Rob McDonald
Rob has extensive experience with trade-mark protection, prosecution and oppositions, copyright agreements and disputes, software licensing agreements, and legal issues related to the Internet and information technology. He also has experience as an arbitrator and mediator in intellectual property disputes.
Rob is a registered trade-mark agent in both Canada and the United States, an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association's Intellectual Property Section and a member of the Licensing Executives Society, Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, International Trade-mark Association and numerous other local technology organizations. As a former director of Cancopy, the Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency, Rob has been very active in the negotiation and drafting of licences with users of copyright and the distribution of royalties to authors and publishers. Also, Rob has written numerous articles and is a frequent speaker on intellectual property law topics, and he teaches the Intellectual Property Law course at the University of Alberta's Law School.
