Mike has been teaching Business & Cooperative Education at Chinguacousy Secondary School (Land of the Tall Pines) since 1988. His teaching career started in 1977 in Arnprior,Ontario. However, the next year he found himself in the educational publishing business ( sales & management) from 1978 to 1988. After a successful ten years, it was back to teaching.

With the advent of new curriculum , Mike developed a great interest in new business courses like Entrepreneurship and Administrative Studies. In 1991, he co-authored a major high school text called THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT. He says one of his greatest accomplishments was engineering the launch of a baseball league in the Peel board.

Mike has been fortunate enough to travel on two educational fellowships to the Pacific Rim - to South Korea in 1992 and Japan in 1995. Then, in the summers of 1996 & 1997, he got a taste of ivy league in England with summer school teaching assignments at Oxford University through a growing International program run by his school board.

In fall 1997, his popular section, "Young Entrepreneurs", appeared weekly in THE TORONTO STAR's business section. In the spring of 1998, he joined the Business Studies Curriculum Writing Team as a writer of new business courses for Ontario's high schools. September 1998 witnessed the arrival of a new national youth magazine in Canada called REALM which included one of his feature articles.

He is a member of the Ontario Business Education Association and the Young Entrepreneurs Association. He has served as a judge in a variety of competitions for young entrepreneurs and their ventures. He has completed educational work for TVOntario, CBC, John Wiley & Sons, COED Communications, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education, Ontario's Ministry of Education & Training and a variety of other organizations.

Today he offers freelance services in educational writing & consulting through Pileated Productions. Mike lives in Halton Hills where, if you're really lucky, you'll see a pileated woodpecker fly by.
