B.C. appoints panel to address HST conundrum
By Sara Bedal | January 25, 2011
By the first week of April, residents of British Columbia will hopefully have more facts at their fingertips about the controversial HST.
That's when a newly appointed independent panel must deliver a final report on the implications of keeping the HST or returning the province to the dual tax system of Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Panel members are Jim Dinning, former finance minister of Alberta, chair of the Canada West Foundation and chancellor of the University of Calgary; former B.C. Auditor General George Morfitt; Coast Capital Savings CEO Tracy Redies; and Simon Fraser University professor John Richards. The panel will be chaired by Jim Dinning.
