What laws regulate a Canadian employee working for an American company?

Expert: Howard Levitt

Brandy asked:

I work for a company in the U.S. and we are considering hiring an employee who lives in Canada. If hired, the employee would remain in Canada. What is needed in order to do this?

Howard Levitt answered:

Whether the employer is in the U.S. or Canada is irrelevant. Any Canadian employee, who is located in Canada, must be treated as per Canadian laws and therefore, the location of the employer is not material.
