Provincial Business Registration
Expert: Andy, a BC Corporate Registry representative,
Helen asked:
I am in British Columbia. I am planning to establish a software company. If I get the company incorporated at the federal level, do I still have to pay $300 to register my company in BC, at the provincial level, even though I don't expect to be doing any business in the near future?
Andy, a BC Corporate Registry representative, answered:
Yes. Even if you do not anticipate having any customers in British Columbia at the moment, you are still conducting business within the province, and if that business is incorporated federally, it must also be incorporated provincially. Other provinces may have different policies, so keep that in mind if you wish to open up offices in other locations.
